Cases for Your Eyeglass/Sunglasses

After a craft fair in November where I work,
I received upholstery fabric samples of recycled polyester
in the interoffice mail.
I knew they would make great eyeglass cases.

Here are the ones that had some blue in them.

These had some red.

I went for "different" in the linings.

Here is a peak inside.

No snaps...

No velcro...

But they do stay closed!
Can you guess how that happens?

Happy Monday!

Old Shirts Get New Life

My husband had several dress shirts that he was no longer wearing.

A friend from church gave me some from her husband's collection.

Then I had fun putting any spotted fabric that I had with the plaids.
One side says "Welcome" and the other side is ready to party!

Lots of inspiration there.

The one problem left is getting photos that will sell for Etsy.

A Baby Quilt Finish!

Yeah! I finished this baby quilt for a friend
who is giving it as a gift to a co-worker.
All the fabric is from Joann's.

The back is quite plain.

I quilted in the ditch,
I quilted in circles,
I quilted around some of the animals,
and I wandered with my quilting.

Now it's all wrapped up and in the mail!

A Treat for me!

I like roomy wallets.
I also like to practice my machine quilting.
So I make little bags that I call zips.

This purple one has served me so well.
Now I was ready for a new one and I just had to do it this week!
(the busiest part of my day job has calmed down and it was the perfect reward!)

Isn't this fabric adorable?

I found it on ETSY and have been waiting patiently
for the perfect project.

A peak inside shows a rescued fabric for the lining.

Of course a matching checkbook cover was in order.
I used Jamie Kalvestran's pattern "Checkbook cover Scrap-bags.
Fun results!
I am so excited to link to Sew N Tell

My ETSY shop is one-year old!

A year ago today, I made one of my new year's resolution
become real! My ETSY shop - p.s.phyllis sews - came to life.

I love to sew bags ! This design came about because a co-worker
wanted treat bags for Christmas. So I had to play with some
leftover fabric from the I-Spy quilts I was making at the time.

I also love to machine quilt so I practice on small pouches.
What started as a pouch for cell phones now
is best for holding popular Mary Kay products.

Another love is re-fashioning projects to bags.
What was once a placemat that was languishing in
a consignment shop is now a cute bag for giving
Mary Kay products.

Another bag I learned to make this year is an old-fashioned

Finally, my shop has small quilts. Right now Heart month
was on my mind.

Over this next year, I want to develop themes for my shop and
increase the amount of inventory I have in the shop.

I am learning so much and looking forward to this next year.

What I have been doing......

The days have been really, really long
I have not had alot of time to sew

but a friend needs a quilt for a new baby boy....

Aren't these fabrics from Joann's fun?

A gal from church gave me shirts from her husband's work
that he no longer wears.

Mixing these with other dotted fabric and leftovers from the baby quilt,
I am having fun making buntings.

The last touch is to add the letters for "Welcome."

Another admissions season is nearly over.
The days are getting better.
Thankfully, sewing is the best way to de-stress!

Mom's gift

My mother's birthday is this weekend.
This year she is living in a new place.

I loved creating the cross stitch heart...

and using some of this leftover fabric from a tablecloth project
that I found at Joann's.....

with rescued fabric on the back

It will hang from any door!
I just want her to know I love her very much!

Valentine Pins

I saw the pink fleece first and fell in love with it.

Since Valentine's Day is coming, I had to make many heart pins.

Alittle hand sewing, many buttons, hot glue and a pin...
Voila!

I think they just might put a smile on alot of
faces! Can't wait to deliver them.

Wristlets

Look at these bright colors!
Together they make a hip pocket which I have liked alot.
It holds a cell phone, a small wallet, keys, tissues and away you go!
But I have many left over after the fall craft fair season.

So I chopped it off.

Then I chopped the rest!

I managed to sew the handle on the right side for all but one.

Since I am a lefty, I guess I will have to use this one!
(wink wink!)
Product development, don't you know.
